I don't have much to say about the abundance of strawberries we've had this year except YUMMMMMM!

I currently am growing two varieties. An everbearing variety called ‘Quinault’...and the other is escaping me at the moment. I’ll check my notes later. ‘Quinault’ is a reliable and prolific producer. Here in Texas though, with our extreme heat, the berries won’t get quite as large as in cooler climates. The spring batch, which comes on in March and April are larger. Now that we’re between 95-100 degrees F everyday the fruit is much smaller, but still tasty! The plants will probably take a break in July-August when we’re between 100-105. But I’m hoping for a nice fall crop!

I had hoped to grow some strawberries this year, but just didn’t get them in.  Ugh!  100 to 105 degrees!  We almost get to that, but not quite—thankfully!
