Going to Peru…

Oct 21, 2009

So, have I told you guys I'm going to Peru in December? Well, I am! My best friend Kimberly and I are going to trek around in the Amazon jungle near Iquitos, Peru for a couple of weeks. We will be staying and studying with some native shamans. Very exciting.

This is where we will be...

This is where we'll swim...and hope the piranhas don't eat our toes..lol

And of course studying all sorts of fabulous plants...

Can't wait to go...but for now I have to be satisfied with the ache in my arms from the 5 shots I got to day...owwwww. Still a couple more to go. My poor, poor guns! At least they gave me cute band aids, lol.

I'll keep you guys posted and hope to have some wonderful photos to share upon my return.

That’s wonderful!  My mother is scheduled to go to Peru with a couple of friends in January, so if you have any tips/reflections that would be helpful, I’d love to hear them.

that’s is very excited, but I don’t understand why to have shots before you go to Peru.
I am Peruvian but live in the UK and my daughter has been to Peru and she never had shots before I think that’s just silly.
but anyway have fun in Peru I’ll be there in December too.

Hi Jennyfer, I suppose there are a few things that if you’ve never been exposed to before, it’s best to be vaccinated. Yellow fever, for example, is present in the area I’ll be traveling in. I believe the U.S. will not allow us to re-enter the country from Peru if we can’t show proof of prior vaccination. I’ll be traveling around Iquitos…what can you tell me about that part of the country? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks
