Summer Veggies…

Jun 21, 2008

Plucked a few things from the veggie garden this morning. Unfortunately, the squirrels are totally devastating my tomato crop this year, so I'm forced to pick them before they are ripe. They are left alone to ripen on the window sill. So sad. A little cracking on some of the tomatoes this year due to our vacation absence. But some nice summer squash coming along, both patty pan and crookneck types. First few okra and eggplant. I'm on the cusp of being over run by peppers, as I am every year (not that I'm complaining!). Hoping to see some bush beans soon and blackberries. Today I'll see if I have any potatoes ready...

Yummy! Also, you are a great photographer. My garden was hailed so I won’t be seeing any yumminess for a while.  Luckily, no tornadoes.

I picked my first ripe tomato today. i started by just taking a bite. before i knew it, i ate the whole damn thing. it was pretty big. i am in love and obsessed. thanks a lot! wink

Oh, and i am having no problems with bugs, disease or squirrels. i am starting to think someone is poisoning my yard. it is really weird. i am sure reality will set in and i will be over run by crud next harvest.

hope you are feeling better! xo

Thanks Leslie for your so informative post.
This year I decided to build three raised bed for growing vegetables: carrots, onions, beetroot and tomatos and filled it with topsoil from my local supplier. Now I have organic vegetables from my own garden smile So happy!
